AFC Bournemouth and South Africa international striker Tokelo Rantie could be a target for South African side Kaizer Chiefs.

Previous reports have stated that Rantie is in talks to move to Danish Superliga runners-up SonderjyskE.

Rantie’s agent Dario Slomic has confirmed that discussions have begun over a move away from Dean Court and stated that there is interest in Denmark, but would not confirm which club.

Speaking to Danish sports magazine Tipsbladet as quoted by the Daily Echo Slomic said…

‘I can confirm that there is concrete interest from a club in Denmark. We are in dialogue with Bournemouth about a transfer,’

soccerladuma.co.za have also reported that there is interest in his home country of South Africa.

The speculation comes via ‘Siya crew in Soccer Laduma’.

They have quoted an unnamed source as stating…

“Chiefs are very interested in Rantie. The player is aware of the interest in him and, with the way things are at the moment, he is willing to terminate his contract with his club to possibly join Chiefs. The talks have started, the parties have to agree on terms and hopefully that will be sorted out.

“It seems Rantie could reach an agreement with Bournemouth to part ways. It`s only the issue of a settlement that is being discussed and I don`t foresee any obstacles regarding him leaving the club. Rantie`s contract with Bournemouth is set to expire in June next year but, like I say, they could agree to go their separate ways,”

The Cherries signed the 25 year old forward from Swedish Allsvenskan side Malmo FF for a club record transfer fee in August 2013.

The official fee was undisclosed but reports suggested that the deal could rise to around £2.6million.

The South African international signed a four year deal to make the move to Dean Court, with the Cherries beating Scottish champions Celtic and former UEFA Cup finalists Middlesbrough to his signature.

Rantie came through the youth system in South Africa and played for the Orlando Pirates before making his first move to Europe in Sweden.

Rantie scored a hat-trick on his competitive debut for Malmö FF against Sandvikens IF in the Svenska Cupen (Swedish Cup) before also scoring on his league debut against GIF Sundsvall.

But he struggled to settle in the Championship scoring 3 times in 31 appearances during his first season on the south coast.

The following season saw Rantie make just 16 appearances adding 2 more goals to his tally, whilst last season he made just 6 appearances before not being included in the Cherries 25 man Premier League squad for the second half of the season.

…he was seen a marquee signing..,before we hit the days of spunking money on others like Grabban!

…that I think contributed to the sheer expectation of the fans and his inability to fit into our playing style and the physical side of english football…

I do feel a bit for him as he has some skills and pace…but little end result!
