Just one of many difficult decisions

Cherries boss Kevin Bond has spoken out after the sale of James Hayter to rivals Doncaster, saying it could be just one of many difficult decisions ahead.

Hayts has joined ex boss Sean O’Driscoll at Doncaster for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be £200,000. There are many of us who think the club should just have refused the offer but without knowing the details of Hayts contract that may not have been possible, further rumours suggest he had a clause which stated if a bid above x amount came in for him the club were honour bound to accept it. Even if that clause didn’t exist to refuse the offer would probably just have delayed the inevitable and seen Hayts go on a free transfer this time next year, so maybe cashing in when we had the chance was the best option.

Bondy tried to hide his disappointment when speaking to the Daily Echo saying: “There will be many difficult decisions along the way and James Hayter’s transfer may be just one of them. We cannot live in a false world and the club has been doing that for too long.

“This club has been run on a ‘buy now pay at some point in the future’ basis for far too long and the day of reckoning had to come.”

Personally I do not envy Bondys task of rebuilding a squad for next season.
