New Cherries signing Franck Songo’o has given his first interview since joining AFC Bournemouth last Friday.

The former Barcelona youngster joined the Cherries on Friday and was thrown straight into the starting line up for the defeat to Rotherham on Saturday.

Speaking to afcb.co.uk he said…

‘The guys are really good, the training has been good and I’ve enjoyed playing with the team. I enjoyed Saturday’s game, but I hadn’t really trained with anyone so next week will hopefully be better for me and we’ll be trying to get the win.’

Since leaving Barcelona for Portsmouth over the summer of 2005, the nineteen year old has been limited to three appearances at the Fratton Park club.

During the summer of 2006 he spent time at Coventry City, playing in a friendly match with Notts County.

He returned to Portsmouth and has been playing in the reserves, something that is a little different to league football…

‘It’s so much different to playing in the reserves at Portsmouth. There is so much quality in the division, playing in front of a crowd is really good and the first team football is good for me so it’s good I’ve come to Bournemouth.’

Songo’o also knows new AFC Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond and that was a pivotal factor in the youngster coming to Dean Court…

‘I worked with Kevin at Portsmouth last season so that is a great help. It was a big influence for me because he’s a really good manager and he knows my game. I’ve been training with him over the last year and I like how he works with the guys.’
