upthecherries spoke to Merlin from blueisthecolour.net about Danny Hollands before the move was announced.

He certainly held him in high regard and was hoping to see an Englishman progress through the ranks at Chelsea to the first team.

Here is his description on Hollands…

‘He was born in Ashford, Middlesex on 6th November 1985. He’s six foot tall and definitely one for the future. Has yet to make his first team debut but has captained the youth team and the reserve team. He turned professional in November 2003.

Has shown fine leadership qualities and plays on the left side of midfield in a box to box role.

Prior to the start of the 2005-2006 season, he’d made 70 appearances for the youth side scoring ten goals and 44 appearances for the reserves scoring three times. In 2004-2005, Danny made the most appearances for the reserves, 28 in all.

The club has high hopes that he’ll make the grade and any loan move is seen as purely that, a loan move.’

With the news that Hollands has moved to the Cherries on a two year contract I`m sure the Chelsea fans’ that were aware of Hollands will be a little bit disappointed that Chelsea have let a promising youngster leave the club.
