AFC Bournemouth have announced that exciting attacker Antoine Semenyo has signed a new five-year contract with the Cherries.

Semenyo made the move to the south coast from Bristol City for a reported fee of £9 million in January 2023.

The 24-year-old signed a four-and-a-half year deal upon his arrival, but having featured 33 times in the top flight of English football last season, scoring eight goals and providing two assists. He has been rewarded with a new and improved contract.

Semenyo’s goals last season came at Anfield against Liverpool, against Burnley and Aston Villa at Dean Court, before scoring on the road again against Newcastle United, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Sandwiched between the Burnley and Wolves goals came a brace against Luton Town, where the Cherries came back from 3-0 down at half-time to win 4-3, in one of the Premier League’s most exciting games in recent times.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told afcb.co.uk

“It has been clear for all to see the rate of Antoine’s development since joining 18 months ago. He has gone from strength to strength, and enjoyed an incredible first full season with us.

“Agreeing on a new long-term contract was important for us to recognise his contribution as a key member of our squad, and we’re excited to see this continue for years to come.”

Brilliant news. A refreshing and exciting player – I can’t recall a more direct player. Watching him just get the ball and charge at the opposition is a thing of beauty. – To join the conversation, click here.
