Injury problems mean Bournemouth must keep fighting

Tepid, that’s about the best I can say about AFC Bournemouth’s trip to Premier League leaders, Liverpool.

Sure, before their offside first goal they were starting to look nervy and we were beginning to make a little headway but as soon as it went in the game was finished.

Nobody really took the game by the scruff of the neck. We needed a crunching tackle from Jefferson Lerma, a wild race forward from Joshua King or similar to raise the temperature. Instead, it stayed no more than lukewarm all game.

Once again, these aren’t the results upon which we’ll judge our 2018/19 season but it was a shame to throw in the towel when the officials again gave them a 1-0 lead.

Lots of sloppy play and passes out there. Across the whole team.

Oh well, on to the next one which I’m sure will go much better.

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told afcb.co.uk

“We had Callum Wilson, David Brooks, Charlie Daniels, Nathaniel Clyne and Junior Stanislas are huge players for us.

“Since Christmas we can add Lewis Cook and Simon Francis to that list, but there’s no other solution, we have to keep fighting.

Your say…

I thought Ryan Fraser was absolutely dreadful Saturday. Very fortunate that Liverpool didn’t score from one of the many times he gave the ball away, unlike Jordon Ibe, who played within himself after the second goal.

Artur Boruc fantastic, easily Man of the match.

Andrew Surman the pick of the midfield, King chasing shadows all game. I’m starting to miss Lewis Cook more and more, Dan Gosling has to be one of the worst midfielders in the premier league at passing.

Not too bad considering we had Callum Wilson, David Brooks, Junior Stanislas, Charlie Daniels etc. out. The absence of Stanislas in particular sort of ruined any chance we had of feeding King effectively. – Join the conversation, click here.
