Veteran striker Steve Claridge spoke to the press yesterday after one of the worst Cherries home performances in recent times.

The 40 year old played alongside 18 year old Brett Pitman.

He showed a few good touches before being substituted on the hour.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent he said…

‘Commiserations are in order and not congratulations. I feel sorry for the club and the players because this was not the right result.

‘I felt I played quite well but I know I will be able to make a full impression when I have got some more training sessions and games under my belt.

‘We were two goals down after 10 minutes or so and Port Vale had the luxury of sitting back and hitting us on the break, which they did twice more.

‘Nothing went right for us but I hope I will be able to add a few more games yet.’
