AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has emphasised the need to get the Cherries young players out on loan.

AFC Bournemouth’s development squad lost 6-1 to Swindon Town on Tuesday, but the side were missing a number of players who have recently left the south coast on loan.

On transfer deadline day, AFC Bournemouth winger Harry Cornick and striker Joe Quigley joined League One side Gillingham on loan for the rest of the season (click here for previous article).

Cherries winger Jordan Green joined League Two side Leyton Orient, while Ben Whitfield and Matt Butcher are currently enjoying season long loan spells with League Two side Yeovil Town.

Jordan Lee, Callum Buckley, Sam Matthews and Jake McCarthy are all out on loan in the non league pyramid.

Howe told the Daily Echo

‘…with the younger guys, we have to get them out playing games, competitive games, where the results mean something.

‘The quicker we can expose them to that, the better for their future careers.

‘So, it`s very much a policy we like and one we will continue to pursue.’

It says (Swindon Town) development squad, but I ran the numbers on who scored and over 100 first team appearances this season plus Rohan Ince, once of Brighton, who we all quite fancied a couple of years ago

In that light 6-1 is a fantastic result
