AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe wants Cherries striker Wes Thomas to commit his future to the club.
Thomas made his sixth appearance of the season for the Cherries against Swindon Town on Saturday.
The forward who has had previous loan spells under Michael Appleton at both Portsmouth and Blackpool, came on as a 74th minute replacement for Brett Pitman.
Thomas has 18 months remaining on his contract at Dean Court, but Howe has indicated that the forward doesn’t want to stay at the club with rumours linking six Championship clubs with Thomas during this January transfer window.
Before Appleton’s departure from Blackpool to move to Blackburn after two months in charge, they had been expected to make a further enquiry for him after having an initial loan move rejected.
Championship clubs Burnley, Birmingham, Huddersfield, Watford and Derby have also been linked.
Howe told the Daily Echo…
“We would love Wes to commit his future to us. We rate him very much as a footballer but he has played in the Championship, done well and scored goals. I would certainly welcome him to stay with us but Wes has to want to be here. I think there are a lot of Championship clubs looking at him so we will have to wait and see.”
