Matt Tubbs has joined Portsmouth on a free transfer after the striker and AFC Bournemouth agreed to cancel his contract by mutual consent.
The 30 year old forward opted to make the move to Fratton Park ahead of other interested parties AFC Wimbledon, Southend and Bristol Rovers.
He signs a two and a half year deal with the League Two side.
AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told the Daily Echo…
“…It was always difficult for Matt bearing in mind the system we play, the competition for places and the step up in level to the Championship.
“This club has moved forward at such a rate and, unfortunately, there are always casualties.
“But what I will say about Matt Tubbs is that he`s a great man, an incredible professional and very dedicated. I haven`t had one cross word with him.
“I respect him immensely and he`s a fantastic goalscorer. He goes with our best wishes and we hope he continues his excellent career so far.”
