According to a report in Football Italia, Howe visited Empoli’s training ground to meet Empoli’s Maurizio Sarri and to ‘observe his working methods’.

Empoli were promoted from Serie B last season and have avoided relegation this campaign finishing ahead of sides such as Atalanta, Cagliari, Cesena and Parma.
