AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was delighted to see the celebratory scenes around Dean Court following promotion to the Championship.

With AFC Bournemouth’s promotion rivals Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United both losing, whilst the Cherries recorded a club record eighth straight victory, the Cherries amazingly clinched promotion to the second tier of English football with a game to spare.

It capped off a remarkable six months back at the club that he supported as a child, after returning from Burnley in October.

The Cherries have climbed up the table from the relegation zone with just 8 points from 11 games (0.72 points per game), to taking 74 points from the following 34 games (2.18 points per game).

AFC Bournemouth now head into the final day of the season away at Tranmere with the League One title firmly in sight.

Howe told afcb.co.uk

“I remember coming here for years and years as a supporter and growing to love the club. As a supporter you want to see success so much and you want to see the club move on, and thankfully we`ve been able to give that to a really loyal group of supporters,”

“I`m really pleased but I get more satisfaction from seeing other people happy. To see the players who have worked so hard to achieve this, to see their reactions and what it means to them, means everything to me.

“I`ve never won a league in all my years as a player and a manager, and we finished second when we won promotion from League Two, so to win something would be a great end to the season.”
