AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe does not believe he will be devaluing the FA Cup if he makes numerous changes against Rotherham United.

The Cherries kick off their FA Cup campaign with a third round tie away to Rotherham United.

Howe will be forced to make at least one change ahead of the game, with Southampton loan goalkeeper Artur Boruc unavailable for selection as his loan extension came after the FA Cup registration deadline.

However AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is expected to make more changes, as he rests his squad who top the Championship table.

The Cherries used a total of 23 players during the League Cup campaign as they advanced past Exeter, Northampton, Cardiff and West Brom before getting knocked out by Liverpool at the quarter final stage.

Howe made ten changes for the home tie against Premier League side West Brom and Howe could make a similar number of changes again if he thought it was right.

Howe told the Daily Echo

“…I have always made my feelings very clear on the competition – I love it and would love for us to go as far as we possibly can.

“I do think it is a good chance for us to rotate the squad and change things slightly so we will have to try to pick the strongest team we can while giving people who need games some minutes on the pitch.”

‘We feel we have a very evenly-balanced squad with very good players who aren`t playing every week due to the fact the team has been in such good form and our team selection has been so consistent because the lads with the shirts have warranted playing every week.

“During the early part of the season, a lot of the players who will play against Rotherham were playing week in, week out in the Championship so we are certainly not devaluing the competition in my opinion. We will do what is right for Bournemouth because that is what I think we have to do.”
