AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will consider making a January transfer window move to bolster his defensive options.

The Cherries defence took a double hit over the weekend when on loan Chelsea defender Nathan Ake was recalled by the Premier League leaders following an impressive half season on the south coast.

Summer signing Marc Wilson, who hasn’t featured regularly since making the move from Stoke then picked up an injury in the FA Cup defeat to Millwall.

The loss of two defensive options is compounded by Cherries captain Simon Francis being sidelined through suspension.

Howe told the Daily Echo

“With the defensive issues we have now, with Marc Wilson injured and Nathan going back, and Simon`s suspension, that`s a big stretch of our defensive resources, That`s something we will look at. We have nothing imminent at the moment, but we will wait and see.”

AFC Bournemouth centre back Baily Cargill has returned to Dean Court following a loan spell with Gillingham.

If Cargill can prove he’s fully fit, then it’s an option but a risky one that we wouldn’t take unless pushed. He did very well for Gills by all accounts, but it’s a nasty injury he’s got to recover from much like all our other recent long term injured.Join the conversation here.
