AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe hopes that new signing Lys Mousset will continue to force his way into contention for a place in the Cherries squad.
AFC Bournemouth completed the signing of 20 year old Lys Mousset from French club Le Havre in June, for an undisclosed fee, reportedly in the region of ?7.3million.
Mousset made his debut for French Ligue 2 side Le Havre when he was 18.
Last season he scored 14 goals in 29 appearances as Le Havre almost won promotion to the top flight of French football.
He is yet to make an appearance for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League and in the EFL Cup he played just 13 minutes against Morecambe.
But for Warren Cummings’ testimonial match against Italian giants AC Milan he was given a full 45 minutes to impress, in that time he scored an absolutely stunning individual goal, hit the crossbar and the post.
His performance certainly showed a lot of potential and Howe is hopeful that Mousset can now begin to challenge for a first team role.
Howe told the Daily Echo…
‘Lys will come into the frame if he carries on playing like he did. He came on and could have scored three or four and that’s the biggest compliment I can pay him. He was terrific.
‘He has a great attitude and has been a joy to work with. He’s hungry and motivated and most importantly he wants to score goals and has that mindset. He is very direct and will take the bull by the horns and attack.’

‘Mousset really impressed. Great goal, initial close control to beat two then brute strength against 2 more tackles and then one hell of a shot. Great header to hit the bar, shot off the post and another where the defender just took it off his foot as he was about to shoot. Don’t think he will be a workhorse more a greyhound but who gives one if he scores, and something tells me he will. – Join the conversation here.
