AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes the performance against Manchester City was a positive one from his side.

From the kick off the Cherries looked much improved, with immediate closing down of the opposition with a high tempo and closing down from the front.

AFC Bournemouth would however go on to lose 2-0 in front of the Sky Sports Monday Night Football camera’s, with yet another goal conceded to winger Raheem Sterling and a second which was eventually credited as an own goal for Tyrone Mings.

The Cherries were also hampered by losing both captain Simon Francis after he felt his hamstring and Arsenal loanee Jack Wilshere after he injured his ankle.

But this was a much improved performance going into a two week Premier League break.

Howe told afcb.co.uk

‘…it was a positive step for us following the Everton game.

‘We have to take into account who we were playing and looking forward it’s an important characteristic to show, but we do need a win.

‘My players have absolutely everything and worked incredibly hard. I couldn’t ask any more of the players the way they conducted themselves, City were just better than us.’

Thought we were much improved overall. Just the gap in individual talent and class which was not a surprise.

Ibe’s best performance for us and our most potent attacking threat. Good to see Arter back near to his normal self too. Am seeing Mings get criticised again but thought he had a decent game barring the one mistake.

Lots to be positive about from that and if they keep up that level of performance for the rest of the season, they should be fine. We hav e a pretty good record against West Brom so think we can go into that in a positive and optimistic mood.
