AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has said that whilst the side are looking forward to the trip to face Aston Villa, the focus remains on the Championship.
The Cherries travel to Villa Park for the FA Cup fourth round tie on the weekend of the 24th January, with the league fixture against Leeds United set for that weekend now postponed.
AFC Bournemouth host Norwich City on Saturday, before a return to New York Stadium for the trip to take on Rotherham United.
With the Cherries currently top of the Championship table, the focus will remain on those two games before to the trip to the Premier League side.
Howe told the Daily Echo…
“Aston Villa is a club steeped in history and tradition and we are really looking forward to going to Villa Park.
“It goes without saying that it will be an extremely difficult game for us but we always want to test ourselves against the best and they have some top-quality players in their squad.
“We had mixed fortunes in the League Cup this season against Premier League opposition and there were a great deal of positives to take from the games against West Brom (won 2-1) and Liverpool (lost 3-1).
“We have two very important league games before we go to Villa and our attentions will be fully focused on them ahead of the cup game.”
