AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has backed new signing Jordon Ibe to break into the England squad.
The 20 year old joined the Cherries this summer from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee reported to be in the region of £15million.
His fee has broken the previous club transfer record, beating the fee spent on Benik Afobe.
He opened his tally for his new club when he cut inside the box before unleashing a left foot drive into the bottom corner against Portsmouth.
Howe believes that Ibe has the potential to break into the international set up and told the Daily Express…
“Jordon scored a good goal and we saw glimpses of what he can do. I am excited to work with him over a longer period of time.
“Hopefully Jordon can get in the full England squad. That has to be his aim and is certainly my aim – to take all these boys to new levels.
“If that means the national team then so be it. My only concern is getting them playing to their full potential for Bournemouth.”

Deal works well for all parties. If he moves on in a couple of years, Liverpool will probably be looking at the next level of player rather than Ibe. Meanwhile prices will have continued to skyrocket so the profit will likely be extraordinary. – Join the conversation here.
