AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was pleased with the Cherries 4-0 victory over Huddersfield Town, despite playing over half the game with ten men.

Cherries captain Simon Francis was sent off for two bookable offences just before half time. Prior to that AFC Bournemouth had taken a two goal lead from two strikes from returning striker Callum Wilson.

The two opening goals came via set pieces, the first a corner, headed home at the near post. The second, notching from six yards at the back post following a free kick.

After the interval Huddersfield Town dominated possession but created very little, on the counter attack the Cherries doubled their victory with a third from Harry Arter and Callum Wilson completing his hat-trick to finish the game off.

Howe told afcb.co.uk

‘I`m very pleased with the performance and the players. We made a really strong start to the game, it was difficult in the early stages, but the first goal was a turning point. The incident on half-time, changed the game from us and we managed the period after that and until our third goal really well.

‘It was an interesting half-time, we were able to set our game plan out. They also had half-time to implement what they wanted to do.

‘They set out the second half as they wanted to and one goal would have changed the game. The two centre halves were excellent and protected the ‘keeper really well.

Strange old game. Panned out in many ways as I was expecting with Town playing a high press but being vulnerable on the break.
If they had been more clinical when on top especially early on, we would have had a very difficult afternoon.

Ref was so inconsistent – for both sides. No argument with our bookings and Daniels should have had one too for the first half tackle not even penalised, but at least 2-3 yellows for Town players not given.. and how the ref missed the foul on Cal when through late on I’ll never know.
