AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe hopes that Matt Ritchie will be given the all clear to step up his rehabilitation after he returns from the Villa Stuart Clinic in Italy.
The Cherries winger has returned to Rome for a final check up on his persistent thigh problem, which has kept him sidelined all season.
Ritchie previously spent time at the FIFA-accredited sports medicine hospital last month and returned to the south coast for light training.
The Cherries are also set to arrange an official ‘tie-up’ with the clinic, after Charlie Daniels, Lewis Grabban, Mohamed Coulibally and Josh McQuoid all spent time in Italy over the past month.
Howe told the Daily Echo…
‘Matt (Ritchie) has gone back to Italy for a final look at his injury before we step him up again. We want to check everyone is happy with him before we kick him on to full training. It is good news in that respect but we still haven`t seen him with us yet.”
“Mo (Coulibally) has been in Italy for three weeks. We hope to have him back next week when we can push him on quite quickly.
“Josh (McQuoid) is also in Italy at the moment and we hope he won`t be too long. But he is behind Mo and Matt, who we expect to get back before him.”
