AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes Asmir Begovic’s costly slip was a key moment in the draw with West Ham United.

James Collins had given the visitors the lead when he lost marker Simon Francis to head home at the near post.

AFC Bournemouth however got back on level terms through Dan Gosling and then took the lead through Nathan Ake.

But West Ham were firstly let back into the game via a Asmir Begovic blunder. The goalkeepers’ costly slip gifted Marko Arnautovic the equaliser.

Marko Arnautovic then put West Ham 3-2 up with just 3 minutes to go, with Begovic once again thinking he should have done better.

The Cherries looked like they would leave a wet Dean Court with nothing, but a dramatic 93rd minute controversial goal from Callum Wilson saw the game end 3-3.

Howe told afcb.co.uk

‘Asmir’s slip is a difficult one for me, what can you say? At that stage we’re 2-1 up and peppering their goal with opportunities.

‘That moment changes the feeling of the game, psychologically it hurt as we were looking comfortable at that time…

Begovic made an excellent stop just before that error and another good stop shortly after. The game could have ended about 5 each.

Though the mistake was schoolboy stuff, you’ve always got to take more care in that weather, it’s not like Boruc hasn’t done exactly the same in the bone dry!

Id say stick with it and focus on the back four in front.

We’ll get a chance to have a look at Boruc in the cup again soon as well.
