A brilliant header from former Watford defender Adam Griffiths capped a good peformance from the Cherries verses Barnsley last night which saw the visitors take a controversial lead after 20 minutes.

After an apparent handball by Barnsley in the Cherries penalty area both team moveds up the pitch for a free kick to be taken depite the ball hitting the back of the net and no appeal from the scoring team, but for referee Steve Bennett to award the goal. It was only after a good 10 seconds after the ball had crossed the line did either the fans or players realised the referee’s decision.

But pressure from the Cherries paid off 25 minutes into the second half when aussie defender Griffiths rose high on the edge of the box from a Foley corner to wip the ball back across goal and into the corner of the net to make it 1-1.

The www.upthecherries.co.uk site pole only had 14% of voters forecasting a draw between the two sides.
