Former AFC Bournemouth striker Jeff Goulding has joined League Two side Cheltenham Town following his release from Dean Court.

Goulding was released by Eddie Howe alongside Scott Guyett and Sammy Igoe soon after the Cherries promotion winning campaign had ended and Goulding becomes the first of the trio to find a new club.

Goulding has signed a 1 year contract at Whaddon Road and hopes to prove himself at League Two level.

Goulding told The Citizen

“I am hungry for the chance to prove to people I can do it at this level…’

‘…I was playing really well in pre-season last year and the gaffer (Eddie Howe) even said to me that I was going to be the number one striker there but I picked up an ankle injury a week into the season and it was really hard to get back into the squad because obviously Brett (Pitman) had an unbelievable season…’

‘…Mark (Yates, Cheltenham manager) and I had a long conversation about how he wants his team to play and what he wants from his squad and it was very similar to what we had at Bournemouth last year. He wants a close-knit squad that works really hard and he’s willing to give me the opportunity to prove myself in that team which is really exciting. I’ve done my research on Cheltenham Town and I’ve still got a bit to learn but I believe that this club can now push on. I need to prove to Mark that I want to come here and become the number one striker and I know I have the hunger to do just that.’
