AFC Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling believes the Cherries need to improve their defensive record.

During the first nine games of the Premier League season, the Cherries had conceded just 12 goals, with 7 of those against the Manchester clubs of United and City.

AFC Bournemouth had kept three clean sheets and on average conceded 1.33 goals per game.

Over the following nine games the Cherries have conceded 19 goals, conceded two against Middlesbrough and Sunderland and conceded three against Arsenal, Liverpool, Burnley, Southampton and Chelsea.

Two more clean sheets against Stoke and Leicester have helped to keep the average goals conceded during that period to 2.11.

Gosling told the Daily Echo

‘…We can`t keep conceding two or three goals a game.

‘We won`t win many games if we do. It puts a lot of pressure on the attacking side of our game because we have to score three or four to win.

‘We need to grind out a result, somehow, and hopefully we can do that at Swansea…’

‘…With them being in the lower reaches of the league, it`s the sort of game we need to be winning to keep us up around the top half of the division.’
