AFC Bournemouth right back Simon Francis believes the Cherries need to pinch a scrappy game to build confidence amongst the players.
Francis made a surprised return to the Cherries starting line up after it had originally been reported that he had suffered an anterior cruciate ligament strain against Brentford.
AFC Bournemouth physio Steve Hard believed that the right back would be on the sidelines for six weeks, but he returned to training during the week and was named in Dennis Rofe’s starting line up.
Francis told afcb.co.uk…
“I thought originally I had torn a muscle, but after it settled down, there was no tear. I had a good range of movement and I was able to push on. I trained for three days and felt fit and ready for the Coventry game and I was pleased to be selected.
“It was another frustrating day though. I sound like a broken record now saying that we deserved to get something out of the game. In the first half they were there for the taking. They gave the ball away a few times and we should have taken a couple of our chances. That has been the story of our season.”
“The result that Coventry got was exactly the sort of one we need. At the moment, it doesn`t look as if we are going to smash a team three or four nil. What it does look like is that we could nick a game and that would do all sorts for our confidence as a club and as a squad of players…”
