AFC Bournemouth have officially completed the signing of Charlton defender Simon Francis.

The 26 year old joins the Cherries on an emergency loan move until January, when the deal will then become permanent with an undisclosed fee agreed between Charlton and AFC Bournemouth.

The Cherries and Charlton agreed an undisclosed fee reported to be in the region of £40,000 in July, but after the transfer stalled on personal terms, the deal collapsed.

After making 43 appearances for Charlton last season, this season he has been limited to just two Football League Cup appearances and with just six months remaining on his current contract, it has been reported that Charlton and the Cherries have agreed a fee in the region of £25,000.

AFC Bournemouth director Tom Mitchell told afcb.co.uk

‘We are really pleased to have captured Simon’s signature. We came close to agreeing a deal with the player this summer, but unfortunately personal terms could not be agreed.

‘We are delighted that three months down the line a deal has been done, and all parties involved are happy with the conclusion.’
