Cherries youth team kick off their FA Cup campaign tonight with a home match against Tiverton Town.

The Under 18?s currently sit in mid-table of the South West Conference. With a smaller squad than last year plus the fact that Brett Pitman, Jack Cleverly and Jamie Whisken have all been away with the first team, the U18?s have been forced to field a much younger side than usual.

Speaking about tonight?s game, the head of the youth set up at Dean Court Joe Roach, said ?Supporters don?t always get the chance to see much of the youth team so this is a good chance to come along and see the potential we have here. We have a smaller squad this year, but with injuries and players being involved in the first team it has given us a chance to player younger players earlier than we have in previous seasons.

?It has taken the lads some time to gel, but it creates a development environment and helps the lads move up the ladder. Pushing the younger players on has helped to speed up their development and we can now call on them to do a job at this level.

?Any young player wants to do well in this competition as it gives them the chance to progress and play against quality opposition. The match this weekend will give people a chance to stake their claim and we?ll train Sunday to prepare for the match on Monday.?

The match kicks off at The Fitness First Stadium at 7.30pm. Prices are £4 for adults, £2 for children and the game is pay on the turnstile.
