AFC Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe believes that results will come for the Cherries following a disappointing start to the 2017 Premier League campaign.

The opening seven results in the Cherries third season in the top flight of English football have not been kind on AFC Bournemouth.

Narrow defeats to West Bromwich Albion, Manchester City and Everton have been added to comprehensive loses to Watford and Arsenal.

The only points of the season thus far have come at Dean Court against newly promoted Brighton & Hove Albion, where Defoe netted the winner and against Leicester City, where despite dominating the Cherries couldn’t find a break through.

That has left AFC Bournemouth on just four points and 19th in the Premier League.

Defoe told the Daily Mail before the 0-0 draw with Leicester City…

‘…The lads do everything right. There’s a room where you watch clips, not just after games but after training. The manager wants you to improve every day.

‘We were unlucky against Man City. We played well against Everton. We stuck to the game plan perfectly but didn’t really manage the game towards the end. Even watching the video, there were so many positives. If we keep playing the way we are now then it will come…

‘…You want to stay behind and do a little bit extra (training). Josh (King) and Benik (Afobe) love it ? we have little competitions. Even in the gym it is competitive. I’m looking at the young ones and thinking, I’ve got to keep up here…’

Your Say…

The problem, I think, is that King rarely looks to bring Defoe into play. When King passes the ball, when he’s not taking it forward, he often looks to play sideways to others rather than finding a way through to Defoe.

I do feel for Defoe because he’s not getting the kind of service that we know can lead to goals.
