AFC Bournemouth and England striker Jermain Defoe is looking forward to the Friday night game at Dean Court against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Cherries head into the game without a single point from the 2017/18 Premier League season.
Four consecutive defeats against West Bromwich Albion, Watford, Manchester City and Arsenal have left the side in the relegation zone.
AFC Bournemouth supporters have been particularly disappointed by the performances during this poor run of form, but Defoe insists the spirit amongst the squad remains high.
Defoe continues to look for his first goal since his free transfer from Sunderland.
He has now gone five games without a goal in Cherries colours.
Defoe told afcb.co.uk…
‘There’s no need to panic. We need to show character and we have to bounce back now.
‘We need to continue what we’re doing each day as everyone works so hard in training. We need that one win to go on a run.
‘Last season was unbelievable and I haven’t seen any reason behind the scenes why we can’t do it again.
‘We’ve got good spirit and we already can’t wait for the game on Friday under the lights, we have to win.
Going into this game a lot was being made of the Sanchez situation and how bad Arsenal were at Liverpool in their last game.
Arsenal have had a good run at home, think it is either 6 or 7 wins including last season.
They have world class players and when on form like Ozil can be they pass the ball quickly and can be unplayable.
I only heard the game (against Arsenal), but I was concerned we might see an Arsenal comeback after all the recent criticism of them and their manager.
We lost at home against Watford with a poor performance, but we put up a good performance against Manchester City and deserved something from that game.
Expect to see us come back against Brighton and hopefully take all three points.
