AFC Bournemouth right-back Adam Smith has signed a new one-year contract extension at Dean Court.
The 33-year-old, who has recently worn the captain’s armband, will now remain at the club until at least the summer of 2026.
Last year Smith surpassed 350 club appearances for the club, reaching the milestone against Newcastle United in front of Eddie Howe, the manager who first brought him to Dean Court on a youth loan in September 2010 when the club was in the third tier of English football and then signed him permanently in January 2014, during the Cherries first season in the second tier of English football under Howe.
Smith played a key role in the club’s promotion from the Championship to the Premier League in 2015 and the following 5 seasons in the top flight of English football.
Following the club’s relegation, Smith spent two seasons in the Championship with the Cherries culminating in a second promotion to the Premier League in 2022.
Smith has now amassed 380 appearances across his two spells at the club in all competitions and despite strong competition from Julian Araujo and Max Aarons, remains a key player for AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola.
“I know the consistently high levels of professionalism he brings to the club each day.
"He will be an important part of our squad on and off the pitch over the next two seasons.”

Delighted for him. Still clearly a more than capable player at this level. I hope that a big part of his role from now on will mentoring the likes of Araujo and Aarons, as good as he’s been for us he isn’t going to last forever! – To join the conversation, click here.
