AFC Bournemouth defender Charlie Daniels has paid tribute to the entire team for the Cherries clean sheet record during the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.
During the Cherries second season in the top flight of English football, AFC Bournemouth showed continued progression, finishing with an improved points and goals scored record.
A ninth place finish in the Premier League set a new club record for the highest finish in the clubs history.
Daniels was particularly pleased with the ten clean sheets that the Cherries kept during the season (West Brom, Everton, Tottenham, Stoke, Leicester, Swansea x2, Southampton, Middlesbrough and Sunderland).
Daniels told the Daily Echo…
‘…Last season was fantastic and to finish where we did was outstanding. There were some massive clubs below us.
‘We talked about everything straight after the match at Leicester. There is always room for improvement and, in the past few years, we have done nothing but improve.
‘That is the task we set ourselves every season and it will be no different next time around.
‘Only five teams kept more clean sheets than we did. That was an unbelievable achievement and cannot be overlooked.
‘It is not only the defence and goalkeeper, as a whole team we tightened up and were extremely resolute.’
..if we complete the signing of Ake and Defoe in the next couple of weeks.
With Begovic already secured, would we not go into the next season massively improved?
We would have one heck of a starting line up..
