Crystal Palace and trio of other clubs chase striker

AFC Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe may not feel like he is overly wanted on the south coast, but if tabloid newspaper The Sun is to be believed, he is most definitely is a wanted man.

The 36-year-old former England international made the move to the Cherries following Sunderland’s relegation from the Premier League in July 2017.

He had just scored 30 Premier League goals across his previous two seasons with Sunderland, featuring in 70 games and playing almost 5,900 minutes of football.

But since his move to Dean Court, a move that Defoe looked upon as a bit of a fairytale move after he enjoyed a loan spell at the club in 2000. Defoe has scored 4 times, playing 28 times and featuring in just 1,107 minutes of football, of which 22 minutes have come this season.

He is behind Callum Wilson and Joshua King in the pecking order, with Lys Mousset also getting more game time than Defoe.

According to the report, former England manager Roy Hodgson could be set to throw Defoe a Premier League lifeline with Crystal Palace.

“Roy Hodgson is weighing up a January loan move for the Bournemouth striker who is considering leaving the south coast to get more game-time.”

According to the newspaper, Championship clubs Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United and Wigan Athletic could also rival Crystal Palace in the transfer market.
