AFC Bournemouth travelled to Coventry City on Monday, with Cherries head coach Scott Parker making a number of changes following the scoreless draw at Dean Court against Middlesbrough.

With AFC Bournemouth struggling for goals in their past three games, Parker changed the system and brought in Jamal Lowe and Jaidon Anthony.

Over two thousand Cherries supporters made the trip from Bournemouth to Coventry and they were rewarded with an early goal and a big three points.

Lowe opened up the scoring with an excellent header, whilst Dominic Solanke scored two.

Parker told Sky Sports after the game…

“It was a ruthless performance. We had three shots on target and scored three goals and they all came at great times for us. The first half was very difficult and we had to weather the storm against a very good side, but we were clinical in our moments because, when the chances came our way, we buried them. We knew what they are about and what we were up against – they’ve put seven goals past Fulham over the course of two games and beat Sheffield United 4-1 recently and the game didn’t look like we would have liked in the first half in terms of asserting ourselves against them.

“But, sometimes, when you’re in that arena, it can be like that and, when it is, it’s not about being tactical or technical, it’s about digging in and getting to half-time to regroup. Even during that first half we defended set-plays well but, at half-time, we fixed a few things to help the players and we have kept three clean sheets in a row and this was one against a team who are renowned for scoring late goals.”

A game where the opposition had to attack. We go two up front and more direct.

Worked very nicely. A first-half spell where we looked ropey but never really looked like conceding. A massive goal just before halftime. The second half was a breeze. – Join the conversation, click here.

Great support today, first half was probably lucky to be 2 up, the difference was clinicalness in front of goal, Coventry just didn’t have a 26 goal striker. 2nd half completely dominated, good to see a change of formation.
So 2 more games have gone by and we’ve grown the gap on Forest. Despite doom and gloom looking more likely, 7 points in 5 games is a lot to make up, a lot more difficult than 6 in 7 games how we started the bank holiday.

Parker was tactically spot on today, not sure about Anthony at left wingback and smith at right side centre half for a bit but it worked
5 shots three on target, makes a change from 20 odd shots none on target.

Nice move winning the toss and kicking towards our fans in the second half. – Join the conversation, click here.
