AFC Bournemouth winger Mohamed Coulibaly would like to earn a new contract at Dean Court.
The Senegalese forward who has previously played in France for FC Gueugnon and FC Saint-Louis Neuweg and in Switzerland for SC Dornach and Grasshopper Club Zürich, joined the Cherries during their pre-season training camp in Europe in July 2013.
He went on to sign a two year contract with Eddie Howe’s side and during his home debut he was named as man of the match for his performance against nine time European champions Real Madrid.
He struggled with injury during his first season in English football and began the 2014/15 season on a half season loan with League One side Coventry City.
That did not end well as Coulibaly struggled to break into the side and he eventually had his loan cancelled early.
Now back at Dean Court Coulibaly is aiming to improve his fitness following a groin injury and impress to earn a new contract.
Coulibaly told the Daily Echo…
“I have missed a lot of time and the team has done very well. It is not easy but I will keep trying to get back to my best.
“You never know in football, things can change very quickly. I have to try and show the manager what I can do again and see what happens.
“Everyone wants to stay here, it is a very good club and the team is top of the table. I know I must get back to my best but if I do then anything is possible.
“I have to take it step-by-step. I am playing with the development squad to get fitness and feel like I am getting better all the time. We will see what happens in the next few weeks.”
