AFC Bournemouth defender Steve Cook would like to replicate his injury free season during the upcoming 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

The 26 year old defender played every game of the 2016/17 Premier League season, completing all 3,420 available minutes.

With two goals and some of the best defensive statistics in England’s top tier and across Europe, Cook was a deserved winner of the Micky Cave Player of the season award.

His performances have also been acknowledged by the Cherries, handing him a new and improved four year contract, keeping him at Dean Court until the summer of 2021.

Cook told the Daily Echo

‘I went into the season and I wanted to play more games than last year and I managed to do that.

‘Now I have set my standards higher and I want to continue to do that for many years to come.

‘I managed to stay injury free and have been able to be selected, I think that’s the most important thing for me.

‘The manager picked me week in, week out. I’m just really pleased that I put myself in the position to be available.’
