AFC Bournemouth have announced that former utility man Stephen Purches and non league duo Harry Arter and Mitchell Nelson have joined Eddie Howe’s squad.

On Friday, the Cherries signed Steve Lovell, Marc Pugh and Michael Symes after the Football League gave the Cherries the green light to make the signings and just a few days later, the Football League have once again allowed Eddie Howe to bolster his squad.

Speculation linking Stephen Purches with a return to Dean Court first appeared on the AFCB Vital Forum on 7th May.

Purches left Dean Court three years ago after a seven year spell on the South Coast. During his time with the Cherries he made 272 appearances before he joined Leyton Orient in 2007.

The former West Ham trainee went on to become Leyton Orient captain and has made 122 appearances during three seasons in League One with the London club.

Now 30, Purches has re-joined the club on a free transfer, signing a two year contract.

Tooting & Mitcham defender Mitchell Nelson’s move to Dean Court appeared to be settled three weeks ago when Nelson told the Tooting & Mitcham Guardian that he had turned down talks with Reading and Crystal Palace to come to Dean Court.

The 20 year old has signed a three year deal.

The third player to finalise his move is 20 year old midfielder Harry Arter who made 27 appearances for Conference South side Woking last season, scoring 7 goals.

Arter’s move to AFC Bournemouth was first announced by Woking on the 19th May.

The Conference South side are due compensation for the players development following Arter’s one season at Kingfield as he is under the age of 24.

Arter joined Woking after an Achilles injury ended his hopes of joining a Football League club.

During his time as a trainee at Charlton he had a trial at Ipswich and as recently as December he was on trial at Swindon and had expected to make a £30,000 switch to join Charlie Austin at The County Ground.

Neither move materialised and he has now agreed a 2 year deal to join AFC Bournemouth.
