AFC Bournemouth defender Adam Smith is in a race against time to be fit for the Cherries trip to Leicester City following the international break on 30th March.
The 27-year-old sustained a hamstring injury which saw him withdrawn halfway through the Cherries victory over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Smith was missing for the draw with Newcastle United with Liverpool loanee Nathaniel Clyne coming back into the side at right full back and Charlie Daniels at left full back, also wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Simon Francis, Andrew Surman and Steve Cook, who have all worn the captains armband already this season.
It is the second time Smith has been sidelined through injury this season and is the latest name to be added to AFC Bournemouth’s growing injury list.
Smith’s absence affects AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe’s options as Smith has featured in a number of positions this season. Most notably on either flank in a full back role and further forward as a winger.
AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe told afcb.co.uk…
“Adam has a small grade hamstring strain…
“…Whether he will make the first game back after the international break, I’m not sure at the moment.”
