AFC Bournemouth could be making an early summer move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.

The Cherries were linked with interest in the 20-year-old earlier this month and that rumour was picked up once again by the Daily Mail last week.

That report insisted that the player remained “committed to the six-year contract he signed with Celtic earlier this season.”

They quoted the PFA Scotland Young Player Of The Year (an award he has won for the last three years), as saying…

“(the interest) doesn’t bother me or distract me because I’m enjoying myself. I’m playing for Celtic, so I’m happy. I’m not in any rush at all. I had four years left on my last contract and, if I wanted to leave, I would have chosen to run that down. Instead, when the club offered me six I was happy to sign.’

But rather than completely dismissing the link, the national tabloid added…

“if a bumper offer came in – and word is that Bournemouth would be prepared to start the bidding north of £20million – a decision might have to be made.”
Sky Sports have now run the story and claim, “Eddie Howe has made Tierney his top left-back target as he looks to improve his squad ahead of next season – their fourth in the Premier League.”
The apparent interest in a left back is an interesting one for Eddie Howe and the Cherries.
Current left-back Charlie Daniels has had little competition for his place in recent seasons. But he turns 32 in September.
Tyrone Mings was initially signed as a left back from Ipswich Town for around £8million, but following injuries he has now reverted to a centre back role.
Brad Smith, an Australian international, was signed for around £3million from Liverpool but has failed to make any breakthrough into the first team. In almost two years, he has made just 11 appearances.
This campaign he has played 3 cup games, totalling 225 minutes.

would be an amazing signing and very positive for us going forward.
If there is truth in the story, would expect it to be done early.

I’m still hopeful a fit mings will be great for us, still young, great height and will feel like a new signing if he can stay fit.
He’s been so unlucky with the injuries he has had, fingers crossed for the season ahead. – Join the conversation, click here.
