AFC Bournemouth have released an update on the progress of the Cherries plans to build a new stadium in Kings Park.

Last year the Cherries announced plans to look for a site for a new stadium and in July 2017 AFC Bournemouth announced plans to build a new stadium in Kings Park.

In September 2017 AFC Bournemouth announced that Stadimax were set to conduct market research into supporters` requirements for the club`s proposed new stadium.

The Cherries have confirmed that further consultation will take place before planning permission is submitted.

A statement on afcb.co.uk read…

‘AFC Bournemouth are continuing to progress with plans to build a new stadium within Kings Park and hope to submit a planning application later this year.

Adding…

‘Prior to submitting a planning application, the club will also be looking to conduct further research, engaging with its supporters to gain a full understanding of their requirements for a new stadium.

‘The club are continuing to work with Bournemouth Borough Council`s sports and recreation development manager, who is providing advice and information ahead of a planning application being submitted.

‘The club and council are also working together on the details of a Planning Performance Agreement (PPA), which sets out how both parties will approach the various stages of the application process, required consultation, resources to be allocated and timescale.

Whilst that`s encouraging I find the comment “and hope to submit a planning application later this year” a strange thing to say. Hope as opposed to will sounds as though there may be some doubt perhaps. I`m probably reading too much into this. Join the conversation here.
