AFC Bournemouth won promotion back to the Premier League during Scott Parker’s first season as head coach at Dean Court. A successful campaign, finishing second behind Fulham, clinching automatic promotion in a virtual “play-off before the play-offs” as Sky Sports dubbed it against Nottingham Forest, who would themselves eventually win promotion via the actual play-offs.

The Cherries had been relegated from the top flight of English football at the end of the 2019/20 season by a single point. A campaign that had been suspended for several months following the outbreak of COVID-19. It ended a run of five consecutive seasons in the Premier League.

The following season saw AFC Bournemouth reach the Championship play-offs, a season that had been played primarily behind closed doors for the entire campaign.

So promotion during the 2021/22 season, the first season to not be affected by the pandemic for three years, was a timely one for the Dean Court faithful.

Now a return to the Premier League beckons for the Cherries, their sixth season in the top flight of English football.

The Premier League fixtures for the 2022/23 season have now been released, they are yet to be butchered by the Premier League’s broadcast holders Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon, however, the order of the games around those specific weekends (or Match Days as the Premier League refers to them) will primarily remain the same.

The opening game of the season is Aston Villa at Dean Court.

The international window has been brought forward from October to between Monday 19th and Tuesday 27th September, which means the Premier League season will then run right through until the weekend of 13th November, before the season takes a break for the World Cup.

The World Cup tournament itself will run from Monday 21st November until Sunday 18th December.

The Premier League then returns for its famous Boxing Day fixtures with AFC Bournemouth away to Chelsea.

Another international window is squeezed in between Monday 20th March 2023 and Tuesday 27th March with the Cherries returning to action against at home to Fulham.

The final weekend which will take place on Sunday 28th May 2023 will see AFC Bournemouth travel to Everton.
