An AFC Bournemouth XI beat Bristol City Under 21’s 7-0 in a friendly at Canford Park Arena on Monday.

Whilst AFC Bournemouth development squad coach Stephen Purches took charge of the game, AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was in attendance.

The Cherries fielded a very strong side with third choice goalkeeper Ryan Allsop playing the full 90 minutes alongside Marc Wilson, Tyrone Mings, Brad Smith, Emerson Hyndman, Lys Mousset and Max Gradel.

Jordon Ibe and Lewis Grabban also played 77 minutes.

The goals came via Max Gradel (2), Jordon Ibe (2), Emerson Hyndman, Lewis Grabban and Tyrone Mings.

If it hadn’t been for the post Ibe would have scored a hat-trick.

Purches told

‘As always the first team lads showed a great attitude and approached it how they would approach any other game.

‘There was some excellent football on display and some really well worked goals, Bristol City never gave up and it was good to give the lads some minutes.

‘Its always good for the younger lads to be in and around that quality to see how they need to progress and to help move them on a bit.

‘The manager was watching and it was good to see the team committed and with a great attitude.’

It was a good game and an unbelievably strong team. Imagine how many people would have watched if the details and line-up was publicised. The lady selling cups of tea out the back of her van, and the 2 portaloos would never have coped.

Mings and Wilson were solid and Gradel looked dangerous. Some good finishing and probably about 95% possession. Hyndman looked fit, played the whole game! Mings played left midfield for about 2 minutes, went on a mazey run, did a horrendous pass then went back to defending.

Flippin’ freezing but very entertaining. I reckon the Bristol City players are still in shock now at the line-up.
