AFC Bournemouth finally landed the signing of Freddie Woodman from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper, who spent last season on loan with Swansea City had originally agreed to join the Cherries back in July, reportedly completing a medical as long ago as 14th July according to Dorset Live. However, an injury to Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow becoming ill with COVID-19 saw the deal collapse, as Woodman began the campaign as Newcastle United’s only available shotstopper.
#afcb & Newcastle have agreed a loan move for goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
However an injury to Martin Dubravka has put any potential deal on hold. #afcb are in the market for a new GK & Woodman, who made 52 appearances for Swansea last season is the clubs preferred choice.

AFC Bournemouth turned to young goalkeeper Mark Travers to start the Championship campaign and the 22-year-old has impressed with a solid run of games under his belt.
From his 28 appearances in all competitions so far (27 in the Championship), Travers has kept 13 clean sheets (12 in the Championship) and has conceded just 22 times.
Despite his inexperience and youth he has taken the shirt with both hands however, an injury to Ørjan Håskjold Nyland, which resulted in his contract being terminated, opened the door for the Cherries interest to be rekindled in Woodman.

He too boasts an impressive record in the Championship having enjoyed two seasons with Swansea City.
Last season he won the Championship golden glove award having made 20 clean sheets during the league campaign that saw them go all the way to Wembley in the Championship play-offs.
He has also represented England at all levels through from Under-16 to Under-21.
Woodman will also be on the radar of England manager Gareth Southgate, as Woodman is his godson.

on loan for the rest of the season.
Will he just be back up to Travers, taking the injured Nyland’s bench spot?
Or will he be expecting to be first choice?
He is a class keeper, but Trav has been a revelation and to bench him would be a kick in the teeth.
A good predicament to be in – but a tough choice for Parker.
