AFC Bournemouth lost their opening game of pre-season away to FC Zurich.
The Cherries faced 12 times Swiss champions FC Zurich after enjoying a five day training camp in Switzerland earlier this week.
AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe used the game to field two separate sides in each half and took the opportunity to take a closer look at a number of trialists.
AFC Bournemouth eventually lost the match 2-0 with Ryan Allsop beaten during the first half by Mario Gavranovic, whilst Marco Schonbachler scored Zurich’s second in the final minute of the game putting the ball beyond Darryl Flahavan.
Cherries First Half XI: Allsop, Francis, Elphick, Addison, Harte, Ritchie, O’Kane, MacDonald, Grabban plus two trialists.
Cherries Second Half XI: Flahavan, Fogden, Cook, Ward, Daniels, Hughes, Matthews, Fraser, Bogle, Pitman plus a trialist.
Howe told afcb.co.uk…
“As we expected, it was a really tough examination for us. Early on you could tell that it was our first game and their fourth and that they were ahead of us, We were a little bit rusty for the first 10 or 15 minutes but after that initial period I thought we grew into the game.
“We dominated the early part of the second half, should have had a penalty at 1-0 and had a couple of half chances.
“I think the second goal was harsh on us but all in all I`m really pleased.
