Cherries complete Cook signing

AFC Bournemouth have signed Steve Cook from Brighton for an undisclosed fee.

The Cherries and Championship side Brighton had previously agreed a fee reportedly in the region of £150,000 last week (The Argus newspaper has reported an initial fee of £170,000 which could rise to around £300,000, based on appearances and other add-ons), however the deal was delayed when Cook was recalled to his parent club to play against Southampton on Monday.

Cook has agreed a three and a half year deal to return to Dean Court after a successful two month loan spell.

Bradbury told afcb.co.uk

‘I think since he’s come into the team he’s been fantastic. He’s a ball playing centre half, he’s quick, can defend and is a good footballer as well. I think he’s an organiser, even though he’s 20-years-old he has got a old head on young shoulders.

‘I spoke to Steve over the weekend and wanted him to go into the game (for Brighton) and do well. He played right back for them and did really well.

‘I think Steve will be a Championship player and hopefully that will be with us, he’s striving towards that and we are building for the future.’
