AFC Bournemouth’s link up with Cardiff City has hit the buffers.
Cherries manager Kevin Bond had hoped to link up with friend and Cardiff manager Dave Jones and bring some Cardiff players on loan to Dean Court.
Striker Jon Brown and full-back Aaron Morris, had previously been reported to be joining the Cherries yesterday (Monday) – click here after Dave Jones had offered to help out the Cherries after Cardiff knocked Bournemouth out of the Carling Cup in the opening week to the season – click here.
But neither player has been able to join up with the Cherries squad this week.
John Brown has been called up to the Wales under-21 squad, it is unclear whether or not he may link up with the Cherries after his International duty this week.
While it appears that the loan move for Aaron Morris, was always going to be a non starter. A move that may prove embarrassing for both clubs. As both sides had over looked a rule that made Morris ineligible to sign a loan as he is only a scholar with Cardiff.
Bond told the Daily Echo…
‘You’re not allowed to loan scholars. Cardiff didn’t realise that and I didn’t know he was a scholar until I got a bit further down the line with it.’
