AFC Bournemouth have confirmed the official signing of Nathan Ake from Chelsea.

As previously reported, Ake returned from his holiday to meet up with representatives from the Cherries on Thursday.

This morning it was announced that the Dutch international had re-joined the Cherries on a permanent move ‘for a club record fee’ agreeing a ‘long-term deal’.

It has been previously reported that the fee being paid to the Premier League champions is in the region of £20million and Ake has signed a five year contract.

Ake told afcb.co.uk

“I had a great time here last season so I`m really happy to be back, It`s an exciting challenge. Chelsea is a great club and I learned so much there but this is a new step and the right place for me to develop even more.

“The fans haven`t seen the best of me yet. I always set the bar high so I know there is a lot of things I still have to work on.

“With the help of the manager here I know I can keep improving and become a better player.”

Don’t know if there is or isn’t a buy back but if there is, the buy back should be significantly more than what was paid. It normally lasts 2 to 3 seasons depending on the length of the players contract with the buying club, the 1st time the buy back can be activated should be next summer and there isn’t any triggers eg appearances, goals etc but we can add clauses that the buy back price can rise for appearances, goals etc (so just like add-ons in a normal transfer). Also we can have a sell on clause in the contract and if the buy back is activated the player can refuse to go back. So think of it as a release clause and 1st refusal all rolled into one.Join the conversation here.
