AFC Bournemouth supporters are still waiting on news regarding Cherries full-back Adam Smith.

Smith collapsed during the 2-1 defeat away to Newcastle United on 10th November.

The 27-year-old had been attempting to take a quick free-kick, but former Cherries team-mate Matt Ritchie was stood in close proximity to Smith, so the full back attempted to readjust his positioning. But as he did this, something in his right knee gave way and Smith fell to the ground.

Smith received lengthy treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off.

On Tuesday, according to Sky Sports, Smith was set to see a knee specialist.

Sky reported that there was…

…still swelling on the joint and it may take a number of days to determine the full extent of the problem and how long he will remain on the sidelines.

Asked what he had said to Smith shortly after the Newcastle United game and AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson told the Daily Echo

“…It’s not nice and all you can do is let him know you are there for him. He is in a knee brace and on crutches at the moment and, hopefully, he will get better sooner rather than later.

“We need him. He is a great player for us. The team will be there for him and, hopefully, the recovery is as quick as possible.”

Simon Francis has still got what it takes, it’s just that it is now in an inconsistent nature… He was awesome against Crystal Palace at home and works very well with David Brooks coming back in support…

If we can get Joshua King back fit, Brooks back on the wing, we should be ok with Franno at Right Back, but I would expect to see another Right Back come in in January, ‘if’ Smithy is out for the foreseeable. – Join the conversation, click here.
