The charges follow an incident in the 2nd half when a tackle by Black Cats’ forward Fabio Borini on Lewis Cook sparked a melee between the sides.

The incident saw a number of players on both sides involved in a mass confrontation as both of the referee’s assistants came onto the pitch to deal with the incident.

Cherries’ Harry Arter was booked along with Borini after the referee had spoken with both assistants.

Both clubs have until 6pm on Friday to respond to the charge.
