Chelsea could be set to cut short Nathan Ake’s loan spell with AFC Bournemouth.
The Dutch Under 21’s international is an extremely versatile player, able to operate at left back, centre back and in central midfield.
However, he is yet to impress on the south coast having been limited to just two starts in the EFL Cup against Morecambe and Preston and two Premier League substitute appearances against West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
At left back, he is behind both Charlie Daniels and Brad Smith in the likely pecking order.
At centre back, he is certainly behind regulars Steve Cook and Simon Francis and would appear to be behind Tyrone Mings, who since his injury has reverted from left back to centre back.
In central midfield he is also behind Andrew Surman, Harry Arter, Jack Wilshere and Dan Gosling.
This has left him struggling for regular appearances, something that parent club Chelsea, according to the Daily Star are not happy with.
The report stated that…
“Chelsea are unhappy with Nathan Ake’s lack of playing time at Bournemouth”
‘Chelsea have the option to recall Ake in January and send him elsewhere.
He came on for last 2 or 3 mins at Palace with the instructions to man mark Benteke. Next ball into the box, Ake loses his man … boom. 1-1.
