Just over a year ago, AFC Bournemouth signed Romain Faivre from Olympique Lyonnais for an undisclosed fee, which had been reported to be in the region of € 15 million.
The former France Under-21 international signed a contract with the Cherries until the summer of 2028 and would immediately depart on loan to French Ligue 1 side Lorient, where he had spent the previous season on loan.
The deal was the first as part of the new AFC Bournemouth multi-club model as the French club are part-owned by AFC Bournemouth’s American owner Bill Foley.
The loan deal didn’t turn out well and he was recalled early from his loan spell and joined up with AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola’s squad part way through the season.
Faivre made five Premier League substitute appearances during the second half of the 2023/24 season, totaling 37 minutes of football.
It would appear that Faivre doesn’t feature in Iraola’s plans and for a second season in succession, Faivre has left the club on loan for France.
The 25-year-old midfielder has returned to Stade Brestois on a season-long loan. Faivre was previously with Brest in 2020, where he scored 14 goals in 59 appearances impressing Lyon enough to splash a reported €17 million (including add-ons) to sign him in January 2022 before his move to AFC Bournemouth.
Brest finished third in Ligue 1 last season, securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League and French media outlet L’Equipe have reported that there is a € 3 million loan fee as part of the deal.

£2.5m is a decent fee. Plus, if he does well, someone might want to buy him and we can recoup our investment.
AI seemed somewhat reluctant to use him last season and we have a surfeit of wingers so good to see action being taken to thin the numbers a bit. – To join the conversation, click here.
